Known causes: - **Glossy/shiny stock** — the sensor needs contrast between the black registration mark and the substrate. Use matte finish where possible. - **Dark or reflective material** — reflective, glossy, or dark colors interfere with the sensor. White or very light only. - **Lighting** — direct sunlight or an overhead lamp aimed at the machine will blind the sensor.
