If you are in the south (I am in Alabama), the best bait for our mosquitos is Atrakta (or any other bait with the same ingredients). If you live in the rest of the US, both Atrakta and Octenol will work. If you live in Canada, use Octenol. There are different species in different regions that are attracted to different baits - Octenol will not work in the south! I have about 3 acres, but primarily need my deck and front yard to be protected. I have two 1 acre DynaTraps, both with Atrakta mosquito bait in the net. One is 20 feet from my deck and the other is 50 feet in the other direction to also protect my barn, garden, and chicken coop. I also have a 1/2 acre DynaTrap for the front yard. Replace the baits every 2 months. Expensive? Absolutely! Preferable to the half-solution of spraying your yard with pesticide, which won't even fix your mosquito problem? Absolutely.
