#3dprinting #voron #doron-velta #delta #klipper #bom #build # Overview The **Doron Velta** is a Voron-styled delta printer by [Rogerio Goncalves (rogerlz)](https://github.com/rogerlz), a Danger-Klipper contributor. It started around SMRRF2023 as an April Fool's joke — "the Voron team will never release a delta" — built from the arms of a donated FLSUN Q5 plus spare parts, and grew into a real, working design that looks like a Voron Trident that got squeezed into a tower. **This is not an official Voron Design project.** Aesthetic and hardware conventions are Voron (2020/2040 extrusion, MGN9 rails, GT2 9mm belts, button head hardware, ACM/acrylic panels, Klipper), but it carries no VD support or serial numbers beyond the community "DV-###" special serial tradition. Current design revision is **R2 (v20, 2024-07-13)**. rogerlz's original repo was archived 2026-01-03; active development and kits now live with **Fabreeko/HoneyBadger** and **FYSETC**. ==Decide which lineage to build against: rogerlz R1/R2 originals vs. Fabreeko R2 (fixed/renamed/pre-oriented STLs, Voron naming) vs. FYSETC R2 kit CAD.== # Design ## Specs | Item | Value | |---|---| | Kinematics | Delta (Klipper `delta` kinematics) | | Build plate | 200 mm ø aluminum, PEI + magnetic sheet | | Usable travel | Less than full bed — see Known Limitations | | Frame | 2020 + 2040 extrusion, 500 mm verticals | | Motion | 3× MGN9H 350 mm rails, GT2 9mm belts, 20T pulleys/idlers | | Arms | 210 mm carbon fisheye rods (FLSUN Q5 arms work) | | Motors | 3× NEMA17, 48 mm recommended (60 mm max) | | Bed heater | 170 mm ø 200 W AC silicone (Keenovo) via SSR | | PSU | Meanwell UHP-200-24 (24 V, 200 W) | | Controller | BTT SKR Pico (orig.) / FYSETC R4 RP2040 dual-core (kit) | | Toolhead | [CraneFly by chirpy](https://github.com/chirpy2605/voron/tree/main/general/CraneFly) — official since R2 | | Firmware | Klipper (or Danger-Klipper / Kalico) + Raspberry Pi host | | Panels | ACM/acrylic, full enclosure | ## Known limitations Straight from rogerlz's disclaimer — worth reading before committing money: - The toolhead **does not have full bed travel**. It will hit the panels and/or belts. - R1 → R2 reclaimed ~15 mm total travel via printed-part revisions (2020s moved 5 mm back, 2040s 5 mm out). - Full travel would require a major redesign; do not expect it. # BOM Sourced from the [official BOM.md](https://github.com/rogerlz/Doron-Velta/blob/main/BOM.md) (R2). Source links point at the vendor rogerlz called out where one exists — substitute freely, most of it is generic. The **Ordered** column is yours to flip to `Yes` (add a date if useful, e.g. `Yes 2026-08-20 AliExpress`). Note: AliExpress links in the official BOM are affiliate short-links (`s.click.aliexpress.com`) and rot over time — ==verify each still resolves to the right part before ordering==. ## Frame | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | | --------------------------------------- | ------------------ | --: | ----------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- | | 2020 extrusion, 500mm, both ends tapped | HFSB5-2020-500-TPW | 3 | [MISUMI](https://us.misumi-ec.com/) | yes 2026-08-17 (late september delivery) | | 2040 extrusion, 235mm | HFSB5-2040-235 | 6 | [MISUMI](https://us.misumi-ec.com/) | yes 2026-08-17 (late september delivery) | ## Bed | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | | --------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- | --: | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------- | | Aluminum bed, 200mm ø × 5mm | Custom, drilled for DV, with 7x high strength magents | 1 | [MandalaRoseWorks](https://mandalaroseworks.com/collections/doron-velta) (EU: @owl47_brunosilva on Discord) | yes 2026-08-17 | | bare steel build plate, 200mm ø | | 1 | MandalaRoseWorks | yes 2026-08-17 | | Ball screw, M3 × 9mm | Bed leveling | 3 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DkTj85h) | No | | Steel dowel pin, 3 × 20mm | | 6 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DkNIN0x) | No | | Silicone heater, 170mm ø, 200W AC | Round delta heatbed pad | 1 | [Keenovo](https://keenovo.store/collections/standard-keenovo-silicone-heaters/products/keenovo-round-circular-silicone-heater-delta-3d-printer-build-plate-heatbed-heating-pad) | No | ## Motion | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | | ------------------------- | --------------------------------------- | ----------: | ------------------------------------------------------- | -------------- | | Linear rail + carriage | MGN9H, 350mm (350–400mm fits) | 3 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dd2r1B5) | No | | GT2 timing belt, 9mm | Gates recommended, **no steel core** | ~3 m | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Ddi0U3Z) | No | | GT2 idler, 20T, 9mm | | 3 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmciI0B) | No | | GT2 pulley, 20T, 9mm | | 3 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dd2qIPV) | No | | Steel dowel pin, 5 × 25mm | Idler shafts | 3 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DkNIN0x) | No | | NEMA17 stepper | 48mm recommended, 60mm max | 3 | — | No | | Fisheye rods, 210mm | Carbon; FLSUN Q5 arms work | 6 (3 pairs) | EnviroLaser3D | yes 2026-08-17 | | MR625 bearing | Optional — only for NEMA17 shafts >24mm | 3 | — | No | ## Electronics | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | |---|---|---:|---|---| | PSU, 24V 200W | Meanwell UHP-200-24 | 1 | [DigiKey](https://www.digikey.com/short/hprdfmrv) · [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdE9sY7) | No | | IEC320 C14 inlet | | 1 | [DigiKey](https://www.digikey.com/short/z4z73jbr) | No | | Solid state relay | Omron, for AC bed heater | 1 | [DigiKey](https://www.digikey.com/short/bztzphm9) | No | | MCU, 4+ stepper drivers | BTT SKR Pico (orig.) / FYSETC R4 (kit) | 1 | [AliExpress](https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DBLd6hV) | No | | Microswitch | Omron D2F-L | 3 (4 with [Klicky](https://github.com/jlas1/Klicky-Probe)) | — | No | | Raspberry Pi (Klipper host) | Pi 4 / Pi 5 / CB1 — **not in any kit** | 1 | — | No | | Toolhead + electronics fans | Per CraneFly / kit fan set | — | — | No | ==MCU choice open: SKR Pico is the original spec; FYSETC R4 is what ships with the kit. Pick before ordering the wiring harness.== ## Printhead The official toolhead as of R2 is **[CraneFly by chirpy](https://github.com/chirpy2605/voron/tree/main/general/CraneFly)** — a delta *effector*, currently **BETA2** (last changelog 2024-07-06). The older MiniSB variant is still hidden in the F3D but is no longer maintained. None of the below is included in the frame BOM above. ==CraneFly is still a BETA release and chirpy notes the CAD "will change as the BETA is developed." Check for a newer revision before printing.== ### CraneFly effector — chirpy's BOM This is chirpy's complete list. It covers the effector only — hotend, extruder, and wiring are separate (see below). | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | |---|---|---:|---|---| | M3 × 8 BHCS/SHCS | Effector plate → cage | 8 | — | No | | M3 × 6 BHCS | Hotend mount → cage | 6 | — | No | | Brass heat insert, M3 × 4 × 5mm | Voron-standard | 20 | — | No | | 4010 blower fan | Part cooling, L + R | 2 | — | No | | 3010 axial fan | Hotend cooling | 1 | — | No | | Neopixel | 1 hotend + 1 lens | 2 | — | No | BETA2 adds an **alternate effector plate using M3 square nuts** (DIN 562 preferred) instead of heat inserts — if you go that route, swap 8 of the inserts for square nuts. ### CraneFly printed parts - Effector plate (heat-insert version **or** M3 square-nut version) - Effector cage - Strain relief - Lens — opaque/translucent, or any filament if skipping Neopixels - Lens carrier — DV logo or VD logo variants; VD carrier has a Rainbow Barf option - Probe mount (optional) Print in **ABS/ASA or better**, Voron spec slicer settings. ==Do not use Arachne or similar — chirpy warns it causes print problems.== ### Hotend — supported patterns Pick one; the mount is pattern-specific. | Hotend | Notes | |---|---| | Dragon SF / HF | | | Dragon ACE | | | Dragon Volcano | Dragon UHF without MZE | | Rapido v1 / v2 | | | Revo Voron | | | Bambu Lab X1C (and clones) | | | Sailfish high-flow | ==Ships with the FYSETC kit — confirm it matches a supported mount pattern, it is not on chirpy's list== | **Peck flexure mounts** exist for Dragon-pattern hotends but chirpy labels them **ALPHA — untested on this printer**. They use 4× M3 × 6 straight into plastic (no inserts), and the lower grub screw must go past the switch wire hole. ==Avoid for a first build.== ### Extruder and wiring — not in chirpy's BOM BETA2 added mounting for various extruder patterns, but warns *"some extruders may not fit within the dimensions of the arms."* | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | |---|---|---:|---|---| | Extruder | Kit ships metal Sherpa Mini + Moons pancake | 1 | [Sherpa Mini](https://github.com/Annex-Engineering/Sherpa_Mini-Extruder) | No | | Hotend | Per table above | 1 | — | No | | Toolhead PCB / wiring | ECAS04 fitment supported; strain-relief mount exists for the hartk MiniSB Bowden PCB | 1 | — | No | | PTFE / bowden tube | Length per final geometry | — | — | No | | Zip ties | Effector has moulded tie points | — | — | No | ### Assembly order matters chirpy is emphatic: assemble in the documented order or you'll have to dismantle to reach later steps. Rough sequence — heat inserts → left fan **wire** through cage (fan not fitted) → hotend to mount, slide in from rear, 4× M3 × 6 per side → 3010 fan (cable to the right) → hotend Neopixel routed same channel → right 4010 → left 4010 → Neopixel into effector plate → plate onto cage with 4× M3 × 8 → arms and cable routing. ## Hardware Most hardware in the design is **button head** SHCS. | Item | Qty | Source | Ordered | |---|---:|---|---| | M3 × 6 BHCS | 40 | — | No | | M3 × 8 BHCS | 110 | — | No | | M3 × 10 BHCS | 12 | — | No | | M3 × 12 BHCS | 10 | — | No | | M3 × 16 BHCS | 26 | — | No | | M3 × 20 BHCS | 2 | — | No | | M3 × 30 BHCS | 2 | — | No | | M5 × 8 BHCS | 24 | — | No | | M5 × 10 BHCS | 26 | — | No | | M5 × 12 BHCS | 36 | — | No | | M5 × 16 BHCS | 3 | — | No | | M5 × 25 BHCS | 6 | — | No | | M5 hex nut | 3 | — | No | | M3 heat-set inserts | 50 | — | No | R2 note: the M5 × 60 screws from R1 are **no longer needed**. ## Panels | Item | Part Number / Spec | Qty | Source | Ordered | |---|---|---:|---|---| | ACM/acrylic inner panel | R2 panels are slightly wider than R1 | 2 | [Viper Worx UK](https://www.viperworx.uk/product-category/panels/doron-velta) | No | | ACM/acrylic bottom panel | | 1 | [Viper Worx UK](https://www.viperworx.uk/product-category/panels/doron-velta) | No | | ACM/acrylic upper panel | | 1 | [Viper Worx UK](https://www.viperworx.uk/product-category/panels/doron-velta) | No | | Acrylic side panel | | 3 | [Viper Worx UK](https://www.viperworx.uk/product-category/panels/doron-velta) | No | ==Viper Worx is UK-based — check shipping vs. cutting panels locally or sourcing from a US vendor.== ## Printed parts Not a purchase line, but plan filament before ordering: - Fabreeko repo ships STLs **pre-oriented**, renamed to Voron conventions, with an OrcaSlicer project file sized for a 300mm printer. - Optional 3rd accent color — treat `[a1]` and `[a2]` as the same color if only using two. - Kyleisah contributed built-in supports for the corner pieces. - ABS/ASA recommended (Voron convention); enclosure is part of the design. ==Estimate filament: main + accent 1 + accent 2 quantities.== # Decisions | Decision | Options | Status | |---|---|---| | Kit vs. self-source | FYSETC/Fabreeko R2 kit (~$380, no printed parts, no Pi) vs. individually sourced BOM | ==open== | | CAD lineage | rogerlz (archived) / Fabreeko R2 / FYSETC R2 | ==open== | | Controller | BTT SKR Pico vs. FYSETC R4 (RP2040 dual-core) | ==open== | | Firmware | Klipper vs. Kalico (Danger-Klipper) — rogerlz designed this to explore delta kinematics in DK | ==open== | | Probe | Klicky (needs 4th microswitch) vs. CraneFly probe mount | ==open== | | Hotend | Dragon SF/HF/ACE/Volcano, Rapido v1/v2, Revo Voron, X1C — kit's Sailfish unconfirmed | ==open== | | Effector plate | Heat inserts (standard) vs. M3 square nuts (BETA2 alt) | ==open== | | Panels | Buy from Viper Worx vs. local cut | ==open== | # Resources ## Official / CAD - [rogerlz/Doron-Velta](https://github.com/rogerlz/Doron-Velta) — original repo (archived 2026-01-03), R1 release Jul 2024 - [Official BOM.md](https://github.com/rogerlz/Doron-Velta/blob/main/BOM.md) - [Fabreeko/Doron-Velta](https://github.com/Fabreeko/Doron-Velta) — Fabreeko + HoneyBadger R2, cleaned STLs and CAD - [FYSETC/FYSETC-Doron_Velta](https://github.com/FYSETC/FYSETC-Doron_Velta) — FYSETC R2 edition, wiring guide - [GrabCAD online 3D viewer — Doron Velta R2 by Fabreeko](https://grabcad.com/library/doron-velta-r2-by-fabreeko-1) - [CraneFly toolhead by chirpy](https://github.com/chirpy2605/voron/tree/main/general/CraneFly) — BETA2, effector for the DV - [Dragon Burner Peck mount](https://github.com/chirpy2605/voron/tree/main/general/Experimental/Peck) — reference for CraneFly's ALPHA Peck flexure mounts - [Sherpa Mini extruder (Annex Engineering)](https://github.com/Annex-Engineering/Sherpa_Mini-Extruder) - [Klicky Probe](https://github.com/jlas1/Klicky-Probe) ## Kits & vendors - [Fabreeko — Doron Velta R2 kit](https://www.fabreeko.com/products/doron-velta-delta-style-3d-printer-kit) - [FYSETC — Doron Velta kit](https://www.fysetc.com/products/3d-printer-doron-velta) - [onetwo3D (UK)](https://www.onetwo3d.co.uk/product/fysetc-doron-velta-kit/) - [MandalaRoseWorks — Doron Velta bed](https://mandalaroseworks.com/products/doron-velta-bed) - [Viper Worx UK — panels](https://www.viperworx.uk/product-category/panels/doron-velta) - [Lab4450](https://lab4450.com) — electronics (credited by rogerlz) ## Community - Fabreeko Discord — [invite](https://discord.gg/Fabreeko), build + customer support - DOOMCUBE Discord — `#doron_velta_dev` - Voron Discord — Doron Velta thread - [DV-000 build by rogerlz](https://www.reddit.com/r/voroncorexy/comments/1bsr2d7/special_serial_request_dv000_rogerlz/) ([video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuFxvsZ5HEU)) - [DV-001 by DoubleT](https://www.reddit.com/r/voroncorexy/comments/1bsrmby/special_serial_request_dv001_doublet/) ([video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adXSPTnKe_0)) - [Doron Velta build series (YouTube)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsRFalQlmMQ) - [drucktipps3D forum thread (DE)](https://forum.drucktipps3d.de/forum/thread/37479-doron-velta-delta-3d-drucker-zum-selbst-bauen/) ## Related notes - [[Voron V2.4 Build]] - [[Formbot Voron V0.2-R1 Kit Reference]] - [[Voron Cascade BOM]] — BOM formatting pattern this note follows - [[Voron Style Manual Resources]] - [[3D Printers]] - [[Printer Names]] # Configuration ==To fill in once hardware is chosen.== - Klipper `printer.cfg` — delta kinematics, `delta_radius`, `arm_length`, tower angles - `DELTA_CALIBRATE` / `DELTA_ANALYZE` procedure - Endstop positions and homing - Input shaper values - Pressure advance for CraneFly + chosen hotend # Build Log ## 2026-08-17 - Created note.
